Simple Design MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Quicksilver 8G

MSI has introduced two new models based on the GeForce GTX 1070. The GeForce GTX 1070 Quicksilver 8G (OC) does not differ from the gaming 8G (OC) with PCB, GPU, and cooling solution, but comes in a new look. The red portion on the front is missing, instead, the parts are now silver.

In recent years, MSI has graphics cards with Twin Frozr cooling always set at its “gaming” in a black and red design and simply set in Special Editions to other colors . With the GeForce GTX,1070 is now no longer the case, because with the Quick Silver versions comes now a normal model in the usual edition on the market. As with the gaming X there is a Quicksilver 8G and Quicksilver 8G OC.

There is no difference in PCB, GPU, and cooling solution. Only the radiator cover and the backplate shine in the new design: Instead of the red plastic parts are now silver – we would say that the new coloration looks simpler. The LEDs in the black part on the right are white instead of red. The backplate is now silver instead of black. Both the MSI logo on the back and the MSI logo with the kite symbol on the top are illuminated by an RGB LED.

The clock rates are identical to those of the Gaming X 8G (OC). The Geforce GTX 1070 Quicksilver OC comes in OC mode to a base clock of 1.607 MHz and a nominal boost of 1.797 MHz. In the factory-set gaming mode, it is 1.582 / 1.771 / 4.004 MHz. The memory is overclocked by 50 MHz to 4,054 MHz. The normal Quicksilver 8G is overstepped by a few MHz to 1,531 / 1,721 MHz in the OC mode and 1,518 / 1,708 MHz in the gaming mode – in practice one will not notice any difference compared to the normal 1.506 / 1.6383 MHz.

Since MSI has not yet sent a press release to Geforce GTX 1070 Quicksilver (OC), it is unclear when the graphics cards will be delivered at what prices.
